Feminist Frequency - Tropes vs. Women: #1 The Manic Pixie Dream Girl

Wait wait wait. Is that last picture, the one from Eternal Sunshine, being used as an example of a good or bad example of a female character? Cause I definitely got the feeling she was a good strong character in her own right. In fact, she’s the one who first erased her memory. She pretty much owned that story. Hmmm.

THIS.

THIS.

Comparing abortion to the holocaust and slavery is fucked up and terrible and appropriation at its worst.

How dare you compare what my ancestors and the ancestors of African-Americans went through. These were living, breathing people with feelings who were stripped of…

YES.

ALL OF THIS.

I fucking hate that comparison more than ANYTHING.

The holocaust was religious persecution, it was the inhumane and disgusting slaughter of independent, living, breathing PEOPLE. A fetus is not independent, living, breathing or a person. Also, people don’t abort pregnancies on the basis that their child might be of a certain religion. Like… that doesn’t even make any sense.

I mean. Think what you want about abortion, I’m not going to lecture you on morals. I will actually never do that, because as my position on abortion stands firmly on pro-choice, that really does mean I support women who choose other options than abortion, contrary to what some may have you believe. HOWEVER, it is NOT fucking okay to make that comparison. It isn’t.

Also, once I saw this heinous documentary about this dude who went around the streets asking people their opinions on abortion and then drawing connections to the holocaust. It was kind of the hardest thing I ever had to watch, mostly cause of the shear stupidity of the whole thing. I don’t really know why I watched it or how I found it, but it was fucking disturbing.

Also the guy was a dick and asked women if they’d ever had abortions. On the street. Cause that’s a fucking appropriate question, dumbfuck.

That documentary would have been Ray Comfort. Guy with a New Zealand accent and a big mustache? He’s got much more than just a documentary about abortion going for him. Search for “Ray Comfort banana” if you want a little more /headdesk.

Hot DAMN. I keep getting Google Ad-Sense ads directing me to christian dating websites. I’m neither christian nor single. How what even then where? I don’t get it. It’s funny, in a weird kind of way.

Guys I passed Calculus II with a relatively good mark and I don’t know who to squeal to about it :(

TUMBLAH!

I’ma finish this glass of wine no matter what. What’s up with the sting though? It’s the top of the mouth, just behind the tongue. Not cool man. I just like grape juice.
